| PPR REVEALS NEW ALBUM COVER AND TRACK LIST |
06.17.10 |
|
We have been laying low for a while, gearing ourselves up for full-on press and media (a.k.a. shouting into the abyss) blitzkrieg for the new PPR LP coming very soon. How soon, you ask? Patience, please. Soon enough. There's just a few more details to work out. But we can say that we've already heard the master and this thing just destroys. How can it not? It's called The Robot Destroyer. You may also be curious as to how the guys plan on breaking up their 23-minute song suite. Or what the cover is going to look like. All valid questions and we're happy to say that we have an answer for you. Just head on over to our blog to see for yourself. |

| REASON Y RECORDS SIGNS PPR |
05.05.10 |
|
We are pleased to announce that we have made Atlanta experimental punk/surf/doom trio PPR the newest members of our roster. Formed in 2002, the band have become local mainstays known for their schizophrenic songwriting and raucous live performances.
"We are super excited to be a part of Reason Y because it is great to join a label that truly cares," says guitarist/vocalist Spencer Pope. "Throughout the career of PPR we have always done things on our own and have depended on the kindness of strangers to help us out. It's good to finally have a home for our music."
PPR is currently in the process of mastering their second full-length and Reason Y Records debut, The Robot Destroyer: Part I. The ambitious twenty-three minute song suite was recorded at Bel Air Studios in Athens, GA by Jason Nesmith (Casper and the Cookies). The Robot Destroyer: Part I is slated to be released early this summer. |

As always, it took Apple forever and a day to get that lumbering gigantic corporate monolith to move and do what they're supposed to do, but we're happy to anounce that the Lakehurst is Burning EP is finally available through the iTunes store. If you absolutely had to wait until the big daddy of digital downloading got their act in order to make your purchase, now's your chance. Just click here and off you go. In other news, the band will be bringing their dynamic post-hardcore rock back to the Masquerade on Friday, March 19 as they help support local punk rock outfit Wavepool celebrate their CD release. Tickets to the show are only $8 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. |

In 2002, an ambitious young band going by the name of Partisan entered Zero Return Studios in their hometown of Atlanta and over the course of a weekend recorded nine tracks that—for all intents and purposes—should have made up their debut album, The Partisan (RY011). But aside from a handful of hard to find CD-Rs, the record never saw the light of day. Soon after the sessions were completed, founding bassist Ryan Mahan took a year off to study in the UK, and the band decided to take a break. When he returned, the original songs were scrapped in favor of new material that Mahan had begun to compose while he was away—songs that would eventually grow to form the bulk of the band’s critically acclaimed debut, The Gothic and the Gospel (RY007).
We have considered releasing The Partisan on several occasions but have never been able to find the funds or get the timing right. When Partisan disbanded unexpectedly at the end of 2006 it seemed like the record would remain shelved forever. But when we re-launched operations in the fall of 2009, releasing The Partisan was at the top of their list of things that had to get accomplished.
With a digital release date of March 16 and a physical release date of March 30, fans both old and new will finally be able to get their hands on this long sought after record. In the spirit of celebration and as a means of thanking our supporters, the first 100 fans who purchase a physical copy of The Partisan will also receive a free copy of The Gothic and the Gospel. |

So 2010 has arrived and is already starting to settle in. Before you know it February will be here and the next Lakehurst is Burning show at Vinyl will be just around the corner. That's Saturday, February 6th if you're keeping score at home. Be sure to come out and show your support; it will be a rad night, as usual. The guys will be sharing the stage with local rockers Almost Legendary and Campaign
In other LiB news, the guys recently scored a terrific review from Smother Magazine who gave the EP nothing but the highest marks. Such praise only serves to reiterate what we already know: that LiB have put together a powerful, dynamic debut that should turn lots of heads in 2010. You can read the review here.
As for the label, don't worry, we've got plenty of surprises up our sleeves for the new year. We are currently in talks with a couple of bands and hope to be able to make an announcement on at least one of them very soon. Also, our next release (RY011) is complete and ready to go to press. If you pay enough attention to this site, it shouldn't be much of a surprise who it's from. All we'll say for now is that it'll be one of the best records you'll hear all year. Most definitely.

Just a few more days to go until Lakehurst is Burning unleashes the rock awesomeness at the Masquerade. Are you ready? Do you have your tickets? Since I know you want to support the band and make sure that they get paid and all, here is where you can buy them. You'll even save a little off the door price. That's free beer money for the taking. Hell, they'll even meet you at the show and hand deliver the tickets to you. Seem complicated? Not really. But if you're more the visual type, you can check out a video invite courtesy of frontman Jason Neubert that will break it all down for you. In addition, you should really take a moment to follow us on Twitter and, who knows, we may just give away a ticket or two. For, like, free and stuff. Sweet. |

If you didn't get an opportunity to check out Lakehurst is Burning at their EP release show, your next chance to experience them on the live tip is just around the corner. The boys will be tearing up the Masquerade on Friday, December 4th. Joining them will be local indie rockers Swank Motel along with pop punkers, Almost Legendary and the Promise Drive. Although tickets will be available at the door, those of you that want to truly show your support should buy them directly from the band. They've even made it easy for you, setting up a PayPal link and everything. A cool $8.50 gets you in and you barely even have to lift a finger. Dope. Make sure to get a copy of their debut EP at the show, or, if you're feeling adventurous, buy it now so you can sing along and impress all your friends. Come on, you know you want to. |

It's hard to believe that it's been over 18 months since we had to put the label on indefinite hiatus. A lot has happened since then; some bad, some good. None of it really matters much now. What's important is that we're moving forward with a new plan and renewed energy. To that effect, we've updated and pimped out our site and we've added a great new band to our roster. Lakehurst is Burning features former members of the dearly departed Paper Champions and they fuggin' rule. Think the Champs but a little more reflective and worn around the edges. Their self-titled debut EP is out today and you should totally buy it. Not convinced? Pay a visit to our blog and you can stream the entire EP now so you can judge for yourself. Make sure to drop us a line and let us know what you think. |

Good lord, this site is old. Decrepit. Outdated. Missing images and content and shit. What say we take it out to the back and shoot it? Put it out of its misery. The death knell has rung and we're ready to move forward. There is a whole lot going on around here. Stuff that will be revealed soon. For the time being know that we're coming back, for realz this time. We've got new bands, new albums, new everything in the works. For the time being all you need to know is the name, Lakehurst is Burning. Ex-members of The Paper Champions. Debut self-titled EP out on October 27th. Hells. Yes. Too anxious and excited to wait? Get yourself a copy at their release show on Friday, October 16th at Vinyl in Midtown. We've got you covered. Stay tuned for more info coming very soon. |

We're almost a quarter of the way through 2008. Yeah, you heard me right. A friggin' quarter. That's some scary shiite right there. We started the year off strong with a bit of the old (literally!) Paper Champions magic, but things have quieted down since. No new releases, no shows, no activity whatsoever. Well, almost. You see we do have some rather kick ass news. In an effort to spread the good word and leap into this brave new online world, Reason Y has signed a digital distribution deal with ICON Next. We are very stoked about this as it means that in the coming months all our back catalog as well as all future releases will be available through your favorite digital download service - iTunes, DownloadPunk, Amazon, eMusic, Rhapsody, you name it. Excited much? We are. Mucho much, in fact. |

Did we mention that 2008 was going to be a year of change? We friggin' told you so. Well, here we are just a month into things and we've got some big news for all you Charlie Hustle fans out there. The band has reported that vocalist Joe Voisin has split ways with the group. According to Justin and Ben, the split was amicable and they wish Joe the best of luck in his future endeavors. Those of you fearing a long layoff, though, take heart as the boys have already found a replacement in the form of former Piston Honda frontman Jake Cook. The word is that the transition is going very well and that they have already started working on some new material that will hopefully see the light of day very soon. More on that as it materializes. |

We're already two weeks into 2008, can you believe it?! Time flies without a doubt. All's quiet here on the homefront, but only for the moment. We've got some great stuff brewing here for the new year - new bands, new albums, new attitude. All early indicators point to change as being the main theme for 2008. But more on that in the near future. In the meantime, let's kick things off proper, shall we? How's about some new Paper Champions t-shirts to ring in the new year? Yeah, we thought you'd like that. Check them out right now in our store; we've got a variety of sizes and two spiffy new styles and colors to choose from. Oh, and we've decided to extend our latest TPC offer indefinitely. That's right! Download a copy of the Champs latest release, Sounds from the Cutting Room Floor, from our store and receive a free shirt of your choosing. Or pick up a new shirt and get the album for free. Either way, you just can't lose. Word. |
